The two-day International Conference on Resilience, held at Navrachana University, gathered scholars, practitioners, and government officials to discuss urban challenges and solutions. Dr. Brian B. Rudkin from the One Sustainable Health for All Foundation emphasized that many urban problems could be addressed through collaboration between leaders and citizens, particularly in the context of climate change. He praised the innovative research from Navrachana University students aimed at tackling disasters such as floods and earthquakes. Provost Prof. Pratyush Shankar highlighted that conventional solutions like flyovers do not address traffic issues; instead, a focus on public transport is necessary for sustainable urban development. Tejal Amin, Chairperson of Navrachana University, noted that the upcoming Khoj Winter School 2025 will revolve around "Paradigms of Development," with projects from 741 students addressing environmental, technological, and socio-economic challenges. A significant research initiative led by third-year students, guided by Professors Dr. Jigar Shah and Dr. Parth Pandya, studied the carbon footprint of public transport in Vadodara. Their findings suggest that increased use of public transport and hybrid vehicles can effectively reduce the city's carbon emissions.

If leaders decide, every problem will be solved
The two-day International Conference on Resilience, held at the city's Navrachana University, brought together scholars, practitioners and senior government officials from diverse disciplinary perspectives and regional representation. In addition to the OSH Forum at the One Sustainable Health for All Foundation in France and the Strategic Initiatives Head Dr. Brian B Rudkin said that every problem in every city can be solved if leaders and citizens decide. Along with this, Dr. Brian said that currently climate change is a problem of every country. At such a time, I welcome the research done by the students of Navrachana University to solve problems like floods and earthquakes. This kind of research has not been seen anywhere. Every city has problems and their solution is possible only when the leaders and citizens of that city come together to discuss that issue and work on it. In the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Human Intelligence (HI) is gaining ground. Along with this, Navrachana University Provost Prof. Pratyush Shankar said that flyovers are not the solution to the traffic problem of any city. Proper use of public transport can solve the traffic problem of the city. Talking about the current Vadodara, it may be necessary to redesign the city's roads. In addition, Navrachana University Chairperson Tejal Amin said that the theme of the university's Khoj Winter School 2025 has been kept as Paradigms of Development. Under which 741 students have created projects under the guidance of 65 faculty members. Which have covered urban and rural resilience, environment, sustainability and technological innovations and economic, social and cultural challenges. Vadodara Municipal Commissioner IAS Arun Mahesh Babu was especially present at the inauguration.
Public transport can reduce the city's carbon footprint - 17 students of Navrachana University, studying in the third year of three streams - Journalism and Mass Communication, Science and BBA, have conducted a research on the increasing carbon footprint of the city's public transport along with four-wheelers under the guidance of the university's professors Dr. Jigar Shah and Dr. Parth Pandya for 45 days. In which they found that if citizens use more and more public transport and hybrid vehicles in addition to EVs, then they will be able to reduce the carbon footprint.
