dc.description.abstract Provost professor Pratyush Shankar's book 'History of Urban Form of India: From Beginning to 1900' was launched at Navarachna University on Thursday. This book is published by Oxford University Press. The book was launched in the presence of renowned architect Gurjit Singh Matharu, recipient of Riba Gold Medal, Tejal Amin, chairperson of Navarachna University and professor and artist Mayur Gupta. Giving information about this, University Provost Professor Pratyush Shankar said that it took me 10 years to write this book. In many of India's architectural universities, there is too much reference to construction done abroad, while much less is written about India and less is said about Indian cities. The old cities of India were very good for those times. Besides, it was also suitable due to the climate. Research was done in 40 cities of India for this book. In which 40 cities including Bijapur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Leh, Mandi, Chamba, Calcutta, Mumbai, Chennai, Patan, Agra and Jaipur have been included. This book addresses a crucial gap in our understanding of the architectural evolution of Indian cities. While the concept of urbanism is widely discussed in various academic disciplines such as architecture, planning, urban design and geography, there remains a notable absence of a systematic understanding of the historical forms of Indian cities. Despite recent advances in satellite imagery, total station surveys, and other non-destructive mapping techniques, this book is a strong conceptual model that can help understand the actual patterns of urban form. Professor Pratyush Shankar's book is dedicated to the power of research and understanding that shapes our cities. The book seeks to appreciate the past that shapes our present and future, and inspires us to enjoy and re-imagine our urban landscapes. Presentation of project recent trajectories School of Environment Design and Architecture, Navarachna University organized an exhibition of recent trajectories of students studying in the final semester. The exhibition presented information about various disciplines of architecture and design such as studios, workshops, construction, history, humanities and research on new sites. Also presented the practice of teaching architecture and design and their teaching methods. en_US
