Abstract:
A special screening of Mala Sinha and Suchitra Subramanian's documentary The Modern in Print was held at Navarachna University. This documentary film traces the rapid development of the art of block printing in the 20th century. About which textile designer and co-founder of Bodhi Mala Sinha said, we have bought 10 thousand blocks from Mumbai. Of which 7300 We have documented the block. These blocks were built in AD 1935. which provides an overview of the rich heritage of hand block printing during the independence movement. So we will preserve it as a historical heritage of Indian traditional textiles. There was no idea to document these blocks. But we have done this documentation for the purpose of making the historical heritage of textiles of India and also of Mumbai reach to the present generation. This film is 26 minutes and 8 seconds long.
