Q. What has your relationship with books been like?
-These are not just books but a collection of my life. Which I have preserved till now. These books have helped me a lot throughout my life. If I gift them to the university now, they will also help the next generation. My life can be capitalized, which will now be useful to the people of Vadodara in some way.
9. How many books and on what subjects have you gifted to the coming generation?
The collection has been gifted with 4 thousand books. In which books on all types of subjects are available.
I have preserved them till now. Some of these authors have gifted me their books. Which include books on identity, culture, multiculturalism, lives of great personalities including Gandhiji. That is, every field
Q. Today's generation is moving away from books and reading? So is there any solution to this?
This is the same problem everywhere, be it in the country or abroad. People are slowly moving away from reading and books. It is very painful. People have started getting other means of entertainment, so they are getting separated from books. Some texts and languages are very difficult. So the reader is not interested. Therefore, the writer should write simply and on the other hand, the reader should increase his/her comprehension power. Only then can this problem be solved.
Q. Which book is the closest to the collection of books? Written by me
But my favorite book is 'Rethinking Multiculturalism'. In it, I have shown the importance of culture. Our culture shapes the human being.
So culture should be preserved. So if some customs are wrong, then one should raise their voice and not stick to them. My book has also been placed in the top 3 universities of the world. Which was published by Harvard University Press in 2000.
Lord Parekh's contribution is not just the donation of books, but the enrichment of knowledge and heritage.
This is a proud moment for Navrachana University. Lord Parekh's contribution is not just the donation of books, it is the enrichment of knowledge and intellectual heritage. It will help our students and researchers in their education and research, along with inspiration. A section named Lord Bhikhubhai Parekh will be established in the library and his books will be kept in it. - said Tejal Amin, President of Navrachana Education Society.
